So we’ll be able to visit the dog kennels, ride a dog sled and have lunch with traditional dishes in a Koryak dwelling.

Tour program

Transfer to the dog kennels

We meet at the appointed place and drive out of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky by car.

Tour of the kennels
Transfer to the fishing spot on a dog sled

The guide will give you a tour of the kennels and tell about the Koryaks’ traditions of sled dogs breeding as well as the ways that aboriginals used for making sleds and harnessed sled dogs.

After the historical part of the programme we start practicing dog sledding. After safety briefing we go for a ten-kilometers route to the fishing spot accompanied by a snowmobile. You’ll feel like a true dog driver competing with other sleds as in a real sled dog race.

Fishing at the Tikhaya River

We choose a suitable spot and settle down for fishing. Our guide will help beginners in ice fishing with drilling a hole, will show them how to use tackles and teach the subtleties of fishing on smelt.

Return to the dog kennels

While we hasn’t frozen too much, we collect our catch and rgo to the kennels on a sled. We’ll have lunch there: shourpa made of venison, local herbal tea and flatbread. We can cook fresh-caught smelt upon request.

Here we enjoy the cosiness of a traditional Koryak dwelling and listen to the stories about culture and life of indigenous people of Kamchatka.

Return to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Well-fed and satisfied after a full day we return to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. We’ll be there at 18:30.
