City-tour at night is a romantic and mystical adventure: instead of museums and a noisy square goes sunset over Avacha bay, sounds of waves, a stroll to the top of a hill and monuments wreathed with shadows.

It gets dark quite late in Kamchatka: in summer sunset is at 9:30 p.m, but it’s light in the streets until midnight. Streets of the historical center, monuments and the waterfront are illuminated from beneath, so you can have a good look at everything and take pictures.

Tour program

21:00

Meeting of participants

We meet at the appointed place with the rest of the group, check the gear and take the journey. For an additional fee we can arrange transfer from the hotel, ask for details when booking the tour.

21:15

Excursion along the historical part of the city
Observation deck on the Hill of Love

Walking along the waterfront we watch sunset and admire Vilyuchinsky volcano towering above the bay. We pass by Theatre Square and head to the historical part of the city where we view monuments and get acquainted with the history of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

We walk up the stairs to Nikolskaya hill, which is called “the Hill of Love” by locals, and through the park come out to the observation deck, from where opens a stunning view to Avacha bay and a night city.

22:30

Observation deck on Mishennaya Hill

The top of Mishennaya Hill is the highest spot of the city, and luckily one can get there by car.

From the deck a beautiful panorama opens: old and modern parts of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kultuchnoye Lake, Theatre Square and the waterfront where we’ve been an hour ago. Domestic volcanoes Avachinsky, Koryaksky and Kozelsky are at their finest.

22:30

Sea-lions’ rookery or
Khalaktirsky Beach

A visit to the rookery is a seasonal part of the program. Usually sea-lions come to the city from October to April, and if we are lucky enough we’ll certainly go to watch them.

Steller’s sea lions or northen sea lions are marine mammals which inhabit the northern part of the Pacific Ocean. 20 years ago they chose the pier in Mokhovaya bay and come here to spend winter in mild climate.

When there are no sea lions, we'll visit Khalaktirsky Beach — the coast of the Pacific Ocean with about 30 km of the coastal area. We'll walk on black volcanic sand and watch sunset to the sound of the surf.
