The Avachinsky is the most active among “home volcanoes” and definitely one of the most favorable ones among tourists and locals. Its height is 2751 m.
A snowmobile tour to the Avachinsky Volcano goes along Lavovaya Pad (a so-called “dry river”) and up to the altitude of 2300 meters above sea level. The tour offers marvelous views of Avacha Bay and the Pacific Ocean, Kraynaya Mountain, Nalychevo Valley and Volcano Zhupanovsky.

Departure
We meet at the appointed place, get acquainted with other participants and start our journey. First we follow a paved road from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, but later we change to snowmobiles and drive along the “dry river” and through a forest.
The Avachinsky Pass
Gradually we ascent to the altitude of 2300 meters above sea level, bypassing a stoned lava flow of the eruption of 1991. There is a lot to see up there: picturesque views of Avacha Bay and the Pacific Ocean, Kraynaya Mountain, Nalychevo Valley and Volcano Zhupanovsky.
The Avachinsky Pass during winter months is a perfect place for skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile rides. Snow-white slopes, absolute silence and breathtaking views around!
Depending on snow and weather conditions it is possible to be taken to the slope by snowmobile for skiing and snowboarding.
Lunch
We drink hot tea and eat sandwiches there. We are sure, it is impossible not to work up an appetite after such a great time outdoors!
Departure for Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
Having got enough of mountain air and taken lots of pictures we begin our return trip. The road to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky takes about two hours.
