Kaynyran is a cultural ethnical complex 40 km away from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is built according to the lifestyle of the Koryaks, native people of Kamchatka. You’ll visit a yaranga, a home of the northern people, learn about traditions and legends from ethnic dances, songs and tales performed by an ethnic ensemble, try ukha and Koryak herbal tea.
Kaynyran, being interpreted from the Koryak language, means “a home of bears”. There are horses and sled dogs kept at the territory of the village. In summer one can have a horse ride, and try dog-sledding in winter.
Meeting of participants
We meet at the appointed place with the rest of the group, check the gear and take the journey. For an additional fee we can arrange transfer from the hotel, ask for details when booking the tour.
The way is not long, it passes through Yelizovo town, Razdolny settlement and takes no more than an hour. Kaynyran is situated in a picturesque place: there are Koryaksky and Avachinsky volcanoes at the one side, a spawning river and a spring lake at the other.
Tour to Kaynyran ethnical village
Lunch
We start the tour with a stroll along the village listening to the stories of a guide about the Koryaks’ life, watch at their homes, meet horses and friendly sled dogs. An ethnic ensemble will carry you off to the swirl of dances, songs and scenes of the hunting life to fascinating sounds of Jew’s harp, an ethnic musical instrument.
After the concert we move into yaranga, settle ourselves on warm reindeer fells, dinner with ukha fish-soup and try Koryak herbal tea with flatbread.
There is a museum shop with Kamchatka’s souvenirs where you can buy articles made of horn of elk, tusk of walrus and claw of bear.
