Starichkov island is situated 12 km away from the “gates” of Avacha bay and despite of a small area this is the real natural monument. Dozens of seabird colonies nest on its slopes: crested puffins, murrelets, cormorants, black-legged kittiwakes and seagulls. On coastal riffs there are seals rockeries and dolphins inhabit coastal waters. Two rocky columns, Sentry and Warden, as well as coastal riffs side with the island.
The excursion includes a stop by the Three Brothers rocks, the symbol of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, and sea fishing.

Going out of Avacha bay
Stop by the Three Brothers rocks, float to Starichkov island
We enjoy the panorama of the city from the boat. We go out of Avacha bay into the Pacific Ocean and head to the Three Brothers rocks. We float closer to have a good look at stoned giants.
Heading to Starichkov island. You’ll “hear” this island approaching to it: the sounds of birds rockery is heard even through engine’s roar! There we watch birds nests and seals rookery and take pictures worthy of National Geographic cover.
Lunch on board
Tihaya (Quiet) bay, sea fishing
We lunch with fresh seafood.
After lunch we float away from the island and fish at our pleasure. Except pacific salmon here one can catch flounder, rasp, ocean perch and halibut. Probably we’ll be not the only fishers there: sometimes killer whales come here to regale itself with fish.
Return to the pier
