A two-day tour with a night by the bottom of Volcano Mutnovsky. The route goes on the edge of the crater which offers a picturesque view of the southern and northern fumarolic fields, the active crater and the Mutnovsky Glacier.

The Mutnovsky is an active volcano in the south of Kamchatka and one of the most active. Its height is 2322 m. The volcano consists of four craters with a diameter of up to 2 km, formed by ancient explosions.

Participants are required medium level of physical training and basic mountain-climbing skills: the ability to use crampons and to climb as a roped team.

Day 1

Transfer to the bottom of the Mutnovsky
The Dangerous Canyon

We meet at the appointed place with the rest of the group, check the gear and take the journey. Transfer to the foot of the volcano and back by specially prepared off-road vehicles.

The road runs through the Vilyuchinsky mountain pass, which offers stunning views of the Vilyuchinsky, Mutnovsky volcanoes and the valley of the Paratunka River.

After setting camp at the bottom of the Mutnovsky we will travel to the Dangerous Canyon.The canyon is located in the valley of the Vulkannaya River, flowing through the fault of the northern crater. The river rushes on the former lava channel and falls from a height of 80 meters forming a waterfall.

Day 2

Climbing up the Mutnovsky

After breakfast we undergo safety briefing and start ascending the volcano. The ascent requires medium level of physical training and mountain-climbing skills such as using crampons and climbing as a roped team.

The route goes on the edge of the crater which offers a picturesque view of the southern and northern fumarolic fields, the active crater and the Mutnovsky Glacier.

Having reached the summit we take pictures and enjoy a beautiful view. There we eat snacks, have rest and start descending.

Hot lunch and well-deserved rest are waiting for us in the base camp. After that we pack up our gear and set off to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
