Russian Bay is situated in the south-western part of Avacha Gulf. Its surroundings are scenic and remind of fjords: rowan, creeping cedar and alder grow on steep slopes, a lot of creeks and rivers fall down from hills. The bay is famous for cargo of drinking water: flowing out of springs, it gathers into a stream canal of a small river. Ships filled up their poundages there until the 30’s.
Russian Bay also attracts fishing fans: flounder, navaga, halibut, cod and salmon shark inhabit its waters.

Going out of Avacha bay
We go out of Avacha Bay and head to the symbol of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, “The Three Brothers” rocks. We come closer to the giants to take pictures.
Moving to the south we go by rocky shores and beautiful bays: Rescue Bay, Dangerous Bay and Zhirovaya Bay. There we can meet killer whales, dolphins and humpback whales.
Arrival to Russian Bay
We lunch with fresh seafood. There we take all the gear needed and spend time fishing. Among fishing objects are flounder, cod and halibut.
The bay is interesting not only because of abundance of fish: during spawning season bears come out to the shore, there is a sea-lions’ rookery at the entrance of the bay, near Cape Kekurny.
Departure to the pier
We leave this picturesque bay and go back to the pier.
